Over the last update or two, I’ve noticed the model label above the map for stacked GFS data usually displays the selected model name instead if its own name. In this setup, HRRR 3km/12 11z stacks in series with HRRR 3km/12 06z, then NAM 3km/12 06z, and finally GFS 25k/12 06z, except the label for the GFS time scale shows ‘HRRR 3k’ instead of ‘GFS 25k/12 06z’.

Every so often the label will read ‘GFS 25K’ with the date and model run. The label is always accurate when GFS 25k is the selected model.

The same behavior occurs for the other US models, RRFS CONUS 3km, NAM 3km, RRFS NA 13km and NAM 13km. GFS usually shows the label for the selected model instead of GFS when panning past the end of the prior model.

The attachments show the HRRR model stack with the GFS span showing the HRRR label. The model label is at the top right of the map, next to the NOAA logo.

GFS does not have Reflectivity Composite so when it gets to the GFS time region, there is no data and it default to show the name of the selected dataset.

Maybe it should default to nothing, e.g. “-” or “No Data”
