# Time stepping \[Answered\]

In the latest update, beta version, time stepping has been introduced as a new feature.

It would be appreciated if some sort of explanatory note could be added to Help.

Yes I have some questions about this:

1. That was the default time step before the update?
2. Does bigger time-step lead to less data being downloaded, and hence faster refresh?

as far as I’ve noticed it just does what it says changes how far it advances in time

Thank you Brian I can see now that it’s simply clock stepping.

Time stepping, in weather speak, meaning something entirely different.

Yes, it’s simply how the clock rounds to in time. Prior to this, it was “continuous” but 1 minute time stepping is pretty much continuous. It does not affect downloads.

I agree, but if it’s a beta feature I don’t think that Duane will want to have to create separate help pages…
