I get it that these are different sources/models, but I notice that, in the layered view, even in the cloudiest of days, the cloud layers never touch each other. Would it be just a matter of scaling? @duane explained something about a bug in the unlayered view here, but I didn’t quite understand it.
Just to be clear there are no “observations” here. These are all model predictions. So yes, we’re comparing different models which is difficult.
There is a little gap between the cloud layers to provide clear distinction between layers. It also doesn’t look nice when they touch. 100% is when it touches the line above the cloud layer. It’s not a bug.
You are comparing total cloud and cloud layers. See:
Some data sources don’t have cloud layers so it falls back to total cloud. The equation used to compute total cloud is different between data source. It is important to understand this equation.
