Can someone tell me the point of rain radar?
It only shows the past and not the future rain prediction 
This seems pointless to me

all radars are in the past, it’s so you can compare what the radar showed to what you actually received Meteorologists also compare the same info so they can provide better forecast

And in the verry near future the wadar is the most indicator. It updated every 10 min with the latest info, where as predictions may be 6h old or more.
It’s probably the most useful predictor of rain in the near future, based as it is on actual precipitation. If you swipe back for a few hours and then swipe forwards, Rain Radar lets you do your own forecast as to what’s likely to arrive in the next several hours. I use it in combination with a forecast, viewing both in the same view.
