RainViewer was to discontinue their radar reflectivity data service on the 1st of Jan 2026 but extended it to the 31st of Jan 2026.
Now the RainViewer data has stopped flowing and is no longer available in Flowx.
Please understand that there is no replacement because:
it is too expensive to buy the data from another service.
it is a massive job to process radar data from all the dozens of providers. It is beyond my resources.
Users have suggested using composite radar over Europe and USA. While this is possible, I know that users in areas that are not covered by these composite radar images will complain and rate Flowx 1-star. I hate it when people use ratings to vent, punish and pressure - as such I will not go there. Users are already rating Flowx 1-star because RainViewer has been discontinues - something that is outside my control.
Another workaround is to use split screen. Say, Netweather radar v Flowx.
This works well provided Flowx is showing no graphs and only the precipitation map.
Then just sync zoom and time.
Radar is the reflection of radio waves usually off water in the air (usually measured) but can capture birds or swarms of insects. Precipitation is water falling from the sky. Two different things. It’s a common misconception.
RainViewer service has shutdown. My servers are not processing the data.
You can get radar reflectivity in the HRRR and NAM 3km models but this is predicted radar reflectivity.
