Suddenly no data gets downloaded onto the graphs

I’ve been using Flowx since forever. Starting from 4-5 days ago (not sure really), my Flowx copy doesn’t download any data for assembling any of the graphs on its main interface (rain, cloud, temperature, wind…)

Some of my acquintances that also use Flowx were also suffering the same problem. One of them updated the app and now they claim it works again.

I can’t really update, as my Android is a 7.1.1 (so max version of Flowx for me is 3.426).
I’m not even remotely planning to update my Android phone.

Does this behaviour have to do with my Flowx being almost 1 year old?
This very version of Flowx (3.426) has been flawlesly working for the last year.

I’ll happily send the feedback log to whoever may need it… (I can gather the log, but I’m not sure how or where to send it)

Greetings.

EDIT: I can see these entries on my log:

[DataService state] Manifest is stale: false
[DataService state] DownloadQueue has 0 entries
[DataService state] DownloadService is null

No idea why this alleged download service state is null…

I have upgraded he servers to a new system to allow more storage and faster processing but didn’t bring across the code for old apps.

I quickly looked at what is required to bring across the old code but it’s not easy. I’ll have another look tomorrow.

Although 3.426 was only last year, the code for the new server was from 5 years ago - or more accurately, that is when they diverged.

You can still get data. go to settings and change the server to “Test”.

If anyone else has this issue, please post it here so I know how many there are. Also what models you use.

Cheers, Duane

Thanks for your prompt response.

I changed server to TEST and as you predicted data started flowing again to get then properly painted on the graphs (no matter the data model I choose). (EDIT: well not really sure, as I can see now how the NOAA GFS 25 shows inconsistent data sometimes… The other models seem to work better though…)

But I hint from your words that it’s just a temporary fix for this situation… I’m more than sure than I may probably be in this 1% of people (invent) that got behind with 3.426 app version (or maybe I’m the only one XD). Let’s hope more 3.426 people say something.

Let’s hope also that you find the way/will to re-provide support for the old model.

Thanks no matter what!!

PS: For me part of the mistery is why “it stopped working” just some days ago… I understand that’s the day you applied some changes that left the old version without support?

i also use the old version of the app,but for me “Test” server worked a couple of times then stopped, i use DWD ICON EU 6.5km Model (if that is what you are asking for)

P.S in the new version the icons bellow the graphs, like time or date/time,temp etc… should have more space so the don’t overlap, to test this select date/time,temp,pecitipation and wind vectors, date/time and temp will overlap and it will be hard to see

Yes, everything is the same: version 3.404, an old version, but it suits me in every way with its interface and appearance. For three days now the widget has dashes instead of data. I don’t want to update to the new version, because… I was completely satisfied with everything until the last moment. I changed the server to a test one, the data began to be loaded. But, as I understand it, the test server will not work for long.

Ok, so the old Flowx versions are supported again for the New York and Frankfurt servers.

The Test server is still supporting the old version but this will change to the new servers by the end of the month.

I wasn’t able to migrate two data sources since I don’t process the data anymore - they are:

  1. GDPS
  2. Arome

So with NY and Frankfurt servers active back again for “old flowx” we’re good to go for the future? Or is there a particular future deadline when things will stop working again?

Old Flowx is using the new servers so they should keep going for the future but there is no support for when data sources change or disappear or things break.

If any other Apple user can test this or has any information, this would help greatly.

The last time I updated the subscriptions library was July last year so this seems to be isolated to some phones.

For the next release, I’ll look into the code a lot more and see if I can add more debug logs.
