I’ve attached screenshots since a picture is worth a thousand words. The left image is using the “Outdoors” map style. The right image is the “Dark” map style. The windstreams barely show up on the Outdoors map style (the “Light” map style is similar the Terrain style is slightly better).
On the Dark map style, the windstreams show up great, but the background street map is nearly invisible. Is there a setting I’m missing to either darken the streams on a lighter map or bring the streets out better on the dark map?
I was planning to add shadowing behind the streamlines but this will require more GPU rendering and I was worried it’ll cause more issue.
I don’t use wind streamlines much and I don’t know how many people use it and how. For example, I assumed people will turn wind streamlines on with the wind speed in the background which makes it easier to see.
I really need to know how much of a problem this really is before investing time into it.
So feel free to share how you use streamlines and whether this is a problem or not.
Duane, I certainly understand your point. I generally don’t use the map much, except for showing rainfall (HRRR + GFS). Wind streams give me a nice, quick visual depiction of direction & speed of the wind. I’m more of a visual person & prefer motion over a stagnant display.
