Is it possible to increase the zoom level? I regularly look at, for example, the wind direction in relation to a location. I would find more zoom really useful.
Yes, and no.
When I released Flowx v4, I actually set the max zoom for all users to the max zoom level for Gold Pro. But then free users complained that the data in Flowx v4 was lower resolution, blocky and less accurate. It took me a while to realise it was due to them being able to zoom in more. I think I got bad reviews too.
On top of that, my monthly bill for map tiles went from $0 to ~$100/month.
So I am slowly reducing the zoom level back to Flowx v3 levels.
You can get more zoom with gold pro.
Note, at max zoom for Flowx v3 levels, there are only 8 data points across the screen for GFS. In other words, if you zoom in more, you will get down to one data point (think 1 pixel level) and you are better looking at the graphs or gauges.
Hi Duane,
Thanks for explaining! First of all, I am a happy gold pro user and use the app alot!
I understand that more zoom creates some challenges for you, both in terms of costs and user experience.
Regarding the data points, I mainly use high resolution models like KNMI 2km and Meteo-France Arome 1.3km, so there are quite a few more points per view. But I get your point about lower resolution models and the limitations when zooming in.
Will there be a feature that let you choose what models you want to compare and in what order they should they be?
I have another question though. What unit is being used for the air quality display, specifically for PM2.5? I’m seeing values over 1000, but I’m used to seeing values in µg/m³, which would make it much easier to set the range in graphs. Also, would it be possible to add the AQI score as well? That would be really handy to include in graphs for a quick overview and I would definitely use it multiple times a day.
Edit: the values on the map and colour scale are in µg/m³, but the number that displays above the map and in the graph do not match. For example:
Thanks!
For new questions, it is best to open a new topic with a well chosen name.
Thanks for being part of the forum, and thanks in advance for helping keeping it tidy.
It helps both Duane to answer the questions clearly, and future forum visitors to find the info in relevant places.
Cheers.
Ok, I will do that! Thank for the tip! ![]()
